Are we seeing double here?

If you head to Unit #01-78 at Alexandra Village Food Centre, you will find this stall selling Beef Horfun, Fish Horfun and more.

Unsuspecting customers may think it is Hor Fun Premium, without realising that this stall has moved to the centre row.

The Sliced Fish Hor Fun ($5.50) showcases tender fish slices atop silky rice noodles with a slight char.

Compared to the usual horfun, you would find this sauce taking a higher proportion – smooth, slightly, also gravy-like.

However, I found that it leaned to the saltier side, so go easy if you intend to slurp that all up.

Ding Sheng’s Beef Hor Fun with wok-hei at Alexandra Village Food Centre

As for the Beef Hor Fun ($5.50), the slices of beef were both succulent and generously portioned.

I suspect some customers may not be able to tell the difference if you do a blind taste test of both versions.

Enjoyed the flat rice noodles which absorbed the savoury sauce, with smoky touch complete with wok-hei. Add some pickled green chillies, and it would taste va-va-voom?

Shall I say it is very similar to Hor Fun Premium, except I found this rather 重口味 – with strong flavour and heavy taste.

Ding Sheng Pork Ribs Rice at Alexandra Village Food Centre

Since this item appeared prominently on the menu, I decided to have the Pork Ribs Rice ($5.50) which was better than expected.

The ribs were glazed in a rich, sticky sauce that glistens attractively, with a sweet-tangy undertone.

The meat was tender and succulent – good news, no bones.

The addition of fried greens not only adds a splash of colour but provides a crisp counterpoint to the richness of the pork ribs. But again, slightly on the saltier end.
