Daebak Korean Restaurant, situated at Wilkie Edge in Singapore, offers an authentic Korean dining experience with affordable pricing.

This restaurant draws a mix of both Korean expatriates and locals, especially popular with youths due to its proximity to educational institutions.

It has opened a new outlet at Margaret Market.

As you step into Margaret Market, the first level is a vibrant communal seating area.

With many cafes there including The Homme Baker, WaWa Lala Bee Hoon, Bowen’s Cafe, to Urban Folks, one of the newest additions there is Daebak Korean Restaurant.

It replaced Emart24.

The Tofu Soup or Sundubu Jjigae ($11.90) is priced equally for Chicken, Pork, or Seafood. It comes with rice and kimchi for a complete meal.

The broth, rich with over 26 ingredients including garlic, ginger, and chili, is crafted from a special recipe designed to enhance the traditional Korean flavour.

This time, I decided to go for the Gochujang Pork ($13.90).

The pork slices, served on a hotplate, were well-cooked and tender.

The meal is of rather good value with a well-balanced gochujang sauce that nicely mixed sweetness with spice.

The Chicken Ramyeon’s ($10.90) broth was flavorful, though I wished for a thicker soup base.

The chicken, slightly tough, could have been softer and better seasoned.

There are other ‘special’ dishes including Rappokki ($10.90), Japchae ($11.90), Udong ($11.90), Chive Pancake ($11.90), and Rice Cake ($9.90).

The combination of inexpensive Korean food and quick service makes this a spot worth visiting if you are at Queenstown.
