Pepper Lunch in Singapore has introduced a novel concept – the “Udon Extravaganza”.

This initiative marks the first time Teppan Udon of such style is offered in Singapore, combining springy Japanese noodles with Pepper Lunch’s iconic teppan cooking style.

Do you know: the teppan rapidly heats up to 260°C within 70 seconds, and maintains a temperature of 80°C for at least 20 minutes.

This approach to cooking not only ensures that the meats served are tender and juicy, but also keeps the entire meal warm for a prolonged enjoyment.

For the limited-time offering of “Udon Extravaganza”, you would find two delectable options – the Beef Cheesy J’Curry® Udon and Seafood Mentaiko Udon.

Beef Cheesy J’Curry® Udon ($14.90)
What you get is a combination of udon noodles with 100% grain-fed U.S. Beef, creating a sizzling sensation on the teppan.

The dish is served with a special-recipe thick curry sauce made from quality spices, topped by slices of U.S. beef and corn, offering a rich medley of flavours and textures.

The process of enjoying this dish is interactive and simple.

Start by mixing the udon thoroughly with all the ingredients to ensure they are fully cooked.

Following this, add in the thick and cheesy J’Curry® sauce with just a hint of spiciness. I found the portion relatively huge for an individual serving, so pace yourself while having it.

I would recommend topping up an additional $1.50 with an onsen egg – when mixed into the udon, provides a creamier texture and a more indulgent slurping experience.

Seafood Mentaiko Udon ($16.90)
When diving into the Seafood Mentaiko Udon, the first thing you may notice is the smoothness of the noodles.

The udon had a good bite that paired well with the creamy richness of the mentaiko. Between the two, I actually preferred this better.

The seafood components brought their own textures to the plate, from the tender bite of the scallops, subtle sweetness of the shrimps, to the freshness of the sliced salmon.

Remember to add an onsen egg for an extra $1.50. When mixed into the udon, the egg’s creamy yolk creates a silky, rich sauce that coats each noodle strand.

For those looking to complete their meal, Pepper Lunch offers the option to upgrade to a set meal for an additional $4.60.

This includes a drink and a choice of a side dish, such as edamame, a seasonal dessert, mashed potatoes, seasonal soup, or miso soup.

Or top-up a dollar more (to change the side dish in the set meal) for the seasonal dessert of Crème Brulée Cheesecake layered with creamy cheese and crunchy crust for that sweet finish.
