There seems to be no stopping for Surrey Hills Grocer.

It has opened a new café outlet at One Holland Village offering an Australian gourmet experience in a pet-friendly setting.

Surrey Hills Grocer unfolds its charm in a sprawling 4,000 sq ft space, pretty cosy with its farmhouse-chic ambiance. Prices might give some pause though.

The interior, bathed in natural light, harmonises lush greenery with rustic wood accents, creating an atmosphere that feels both inviting and spacious.

It is a grocer-meets-café that not only accommodates 130 diners across its indoor and outdoor seating but also warmly welcomes our four-legged friends, adding a playful “pawsitivity” to the dining experience.

At the heart of Surrey Hills’ culinary offerings is a tapas menu curated by the iconic Melbourne restaurant, MoVida (I reviewed it 12 years ago!)

Known for its inventive take on Spanish cuisine, MoVida brings a slice of Melbourne’s vibrant food scene to Singapore.

The menu here features an array of tapas like Cordoniz, Pez Real, Vieira, Anchoa, and Pincho.

The price range is from $14 to $32 per selection.

I tried the Bomba ($14 for two pieces). These crispy croquettes, bursting with smoky, savoury chorizo and paired with a spicy, creamy red pepper sauce.

They delivered a familiar comfort, albeit a standard fare.

The Holland Village Breakfast ($36), though steeply priced, presented a lavish spread.

The plate had scrambled eggs, Charcuterie pork sausage, smoked bacon, roasted cherry tomatoes, a roasted portobello mushroom, French toast with syrup, and a seasonal salad.

The items tasted fresh, offering a diverse palette of flavours that somewhat justified the splurge.

Another exclusive at this Holland Village is the Truffled Wagyu Donut ($35).

This dish, a whimsical yet sophisticated take on comfort food, features a wagyu beef patty enveloped in truffle cheese sauce, burger sauce, and pepper relish, all nestled within a Polish donut.

For those with a sweet tooth, Surrey Hills does not disappoint.

The Maple Bacon Twist Donut ($7) brought nostalgia with its old-school donut taste, enhanced by a maple glaze and topped with a crispy slice of bacon.

While the Strawberries Donut with Vanilla Custard ($6.50) offered a fluffy bite, my preference leaned towards the Twist.

To cap off your meal, or perhaps for a sweet treat on the move, Surrey Hills Creamery’s custom-built ice cream truck presents an enticing selection of gelato.

At $7 a scoop, in partnership with Tasmanian brand Van Diemens Land Creamery, it serves up rich flavours like Chocolate Hazelnut, Cookies & Cream, Lemon Curd, Pepperberry & Leather Honey, and more.
