The heart of “Little Thailand” in Singapore has been relocated, following the closure of Golden Mile Complex.

The new chapter now opens with many of the previous Thai F&Bs moving to Aperia Mall near Lavender MRT station.

One prominent stop there is the Thai Supermarket, and you would find Slurp Noodle House & Tea Bar right next to the entrance.

This is a collaboration between Folks Collective and Thai Supermarket. This partnership aims to recreate a quintessential Bangkok bistro experience in Singapore, melding traditional Thai flavours with contemporary flair.

I remember writing about Folks Collective when it first opened some 10 years ago (wah!) – a Thai fusion restaurant with hipster vibes in the middle of CBD at China Square Central.

Slurp, a noodle & tea bar, is a sister brand that emphasises wok-fried dishes and authentic Boat Noodles, providing a distinctive offering that distinguishes this outlet.

It offers Boat Noodles with Beef or Pork ($11.90), and I found it a hearty dish better than some of the average ones out there.

The flavours were bold and layered, with a rich broth and tender beef, though some may find it leaning towards the salty side.

The selection of wok-fried noodles, such as Pad Thai, Pad See Eiw, and Pad Mama (from $11.90), is versatile, offering different protein choices from chicken, prawn, pork, crispy pork to vegetables.

The Mooping Pork Skewers ($8, $15) were not bad and flavourful, but can vary in tenderness in better parts.

For other sides, look out for the Isan Sausage, Prawn Cakes, Fish Cakes and Crispy Pork Belly ($8, $15, $22) which should provide a satisfying crunch.

The ambiance was lively, capturing the bustling energy of a Bangkok marketplace, but noise levels could sometimes detract from a relaxed dining experience as it was in a rather open space.

The service was generally attentive, although peak hours might see some delays.

A place worth exploring if you are into the heartier style of Boat Noodles.
