Newly launched Hot Buns found at CQ @ Clarke Quay offers contemporary buns, burgers and beer with a dash of Asian street food flavours.

However, note that this is more of a kiosk concept, without a proper sit-down area – it would be nice to have some tables and chairs though.

This takeaway food concept (located right next to the taxi stand) also comes with a hidden ‘mama shop’ within.

It was then when I realised there was no convenient store around (like 7-Eleven), and the ‘mama shop’ can serve as a place to get your drinks, snacks, and locally-made cute souvenirs.

They are probably still ‘testing out’ with the products on sale, and I reckon they probably can have a stronger theme and uniqueness in offerings to attract both locals and tourists to head down.

In terms of food, get your hands on the various styles of “Baos”, Potstickers, Shaker Fries, Spiced Corn Ribs, to Burgers.

The “snacks” include Potstickers ($10), Spiced Corn Ribs ($6), Spam Shaker Chips ($9), Shaker Fries ($9), Bao ($10-$15 for 2 pcs) and Crispy Honey Soy Chix Burger ($12).

If you are finding it hard to make a choice, get cheekily-named The Threesome ($19.44) which is great for those who love variety.

Or order it to share.

The trio includes Ol’ Skool Bao featuring crispy spam atop a bed of truffle scrambled egg; Classic Pork Belly Bao packed with tender soy braised pork belly; and the Beef Galbi Bao.

Encased in a fluffy steamed white bun that is soft to the touch, the Beef Galbi Bao is recommended for its fusion of savoury Korean-meets-Japanese flavours.

Expect succulent BBQ beef short ribs marinated in housemade okonomiyaki sauce, alongside kimchi, pickled daikon and more, all slathered with a signature mayo sauce.

For something more filling, there is the Crispy Honey Soy Chicken Burger ($12.96) with deep-fried crispy chicken thigh marinated in buttermilk, drenched in addictive honey garlic soy sauce.
