A Beautiful Day may sound familiar to some people, previously opened at Changi City Point last year with a pink floral & Safari theme cafe and their eye-catching pink desserts and drinks.
The cafe has subsequently shifted out when their lease expired and relocated to their current location with a A Beautiful Day Café Tearoom concept at Park Place Residences at PLQ Paya Lebar, alongside Rempapa and Zing by Xi Yan.
Their interior is entirely different from what they used to be at Changi City Point, with a more dimmer and more mellow style Victorian – Chinoiserie style.
Think interior decked in wooden furnitures to the bookshelves, faux fireplace and gold-rimed mirrors.
Focusing on their huge selection of tea, their menu has a range of CoffTEA ($5.90) to Cold Brew CoffTEA ($6.90), Coffee ($3.90 – 6.50), Tea ($3.90 – 6.90), Fruit Based Tea ($9.90), Tea in Crystal Bottle ($12.90) and Teapot ($11.90).
The Grand Cru selection of tea are single origin tea leaves, freshly brewed on the spot using traditional brewing techniques and served in crystal Cognac bottles.
This is indeed visually unique as this is my first time seeing tea served in these huge crystal bottles.
Different teas are available, ranging from Black tea to Green tea, Rock tea, White tea and Oolong tea.
I had the Prem Cassia Oolong Tea ($12.90), smooth with a clean finish, without much tannins that results in the astringent sensation, also known as “siap-ness”.
I personally liked the Earl Grey and Da Hong Pao Latte ($5.90), with earl grey leaves and Da Hong Pao extracted using the teapresso machine just like how espresso is extracted.
The extracted tea is richer and more robust, well complemented by the fresh milk that enhanced the sweetness and the aroma.
Fruit-based Tea ($9.90) are also available in the form of a Tea Mocktail, served in pretty glasswares.
Using the teapresso machine to extract the flavours from the tea leaves instead of brewing it, the result is a more distinct and concentrated version when mixed in the cocktail.
For those who prefer both espresso and tea, their CoffTEA ($5.90) is a mix of both espresso shot and tea leaves blend.
Unfortunately I’m not a fan of their CoffTEA, as I find that their dark roast espresso shot overpowers the tea flavours and the tea leaves blend have an acquired taste.
A small section of Pastries ($4.20 – $5.80), Open Toast ($15.90 – $18.90), Cakes ($8.90), Gelato ($4.50 – $6) are also available.
If you are looking for a more hearty meal, their dishes are supplied by Zing by Xi Yan next door.
