Di Tanjong Katong, airnya biru. Di situ tempatnya dara jelita…. Heard of this song? Loosely translated, it means you can find pretty maidens by the sea.

In this Tanjong Katong stretch spanning about 3 bus stops where you can literally walk down (and salivate as you take that walk), you get a good mix of restaurants, cafes, local eateries and kopitiam.

Famous food places here include ENG’s Wantan Noodle, ENG’s Char Siew Wanton Mee, Nan Xiang Chicken Rice, Heng Long Teochew Porridge, Ponggol Nasi Lemak, to Oven & Fried Chicken.

Bella People and Coffee
258 Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore 437046
Opening Hours: 8:30am – 6pm (Mon, Wed – Sun), Closed Tues

Tanjong Katong Cafe Has Tasty Mains, Pasta, Burgers, and Waffles
Their menu is comprised primarily of brunch items and Western dishes – some with an Asian spin.

It is divided into all-day breakfast, lunch such as mains, burgers and pasta (served from 10am till 5:30pm), sandwiches, salads, sides and desserts.

Some of the items that caught my eye were the Pulled Pork Burger ($20), Wagyu Beef Burger ($28), Truffle Cream Mushroom Fettuccine ($18), Spinach Truffle Risotto ($22), Asian Salmon Roulette ($28), and Bella Truffle Cheese Toastie ($18).

I was highly recommended to try the Bella Roasted Chicken Leg ($25) which would be good for protein lovers.

You get whole chicken leg marinated in their house-made sauce and roasted to order (do allocate at least 20-25 minutes’ wait for this), accompanied with sauteed broccoli and carrot, deep-fried kale, and smashed potato below the leg.

What surprised me was how succulent and well-marinated the chicken was, it felt healthy yet flavourful at the same time.

Little Rogue Coffee
336 Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore 437109
Opening Hours: 8:30am – 6pm (Mon, Wed, Sun), 8:30am – 10pm (Thurs – Sat), Closed Tues

Melbourne-Inspired Cafe With Delicious Brunch, Bicycle Parking Space
Melbourne-inspired Little Rogue Coffee looks set to be the next bright star in the Katong area.

Having worked in many restaurants before, including short stints in Copenhagen at Noma and Restaurant Stud!o, Chef Aaron Leow wanted to change the misconception of cafe food being “usual and boring” in Singapore.

All-Day Breakfast items served from 9am onwards include Breakfast Toast ($12), LRC Breakfast Patatas Bravas ($14), Sourdough Cheese Toastie ($16), Acai Bowl ($12) and House-made Granola Bowl ($12).

There are also vegan options for the last 3 items. Coffee is sourced from Proud Mary by Ballad Of Anna May, if you have cravings for your Australian-style coffee.

I couldn’t miss not having a Soft Scrambled Eggs with Truffle Cream & Ikura ($14), which turned out to be as promising as it sounded.

Compared to some truffle eggs in which the aroma will hit you at the nose, this was more mellow.

With smooth-creamy and luxurious texture, mixing in the truffle cream elevated the richness of the eggs with a faint truffle ‘fragrant’ that lasted for quite a well.
