[BANGKOK] MIL Toast House 밀 토스트집 which a highly-raved Korean bakery in Ikseon-dong, has landed in Bangkok’s Siam Square and ICONSIAM.

The bakery cafe is best known for their souffle French Toast and steamed buns.

One of the charms about MIL Toast House in Seoul is their location in Ikseon-dong, a modern cafe within the row of traditional hanok buildings, which creates the contrast between traditional and contemporary concepts.

Even though the traditional Korean vibe cannot be replicated in Bangkok, they still try to keep the decor consistent like a Korean hanok.

Interior-wise, there is a minimalist aesthetics such as light wooden furniture, white walls, wooden pillars, natural sunlight and long, flowy curtains.

Mil (밀) translates into wheat, and is a basic ingredient in bread making, which represents the brand as a toast house focusing on bread products.

The main kitchen is on the first floor, occupying one unit along the shophouses.

Proceed upstairs to the ordering counter before making your way into the dine-in area, which spans across 3 shophouse units.

3 different seats are available here: the window seats for couples, on the elevated wooden platform for the perfect natural lighting; the booth seats for bigger groups or at the bar counter where all the preparation takes place.

Their signature item is their Souffle French Toast (THB 365 – 405, SGD 14.60 – 16.20), soaked in egg and milk batter before pan-frying on both sides till golden brown.

Different flavours are on the menu, with the toppings served on the side rather than incorporated on added onto the French Toast.

Think Strawberry Cream Cheese Mousse (THB 395, SGD 15.80), Red Bean Paste (THB 325, SGD 13), Mont Blanc Cheese Mousse (THB 405, SGD 16.20), Blueberry Cheese Mousse (THB 380, SGD 15.20).

I decided to go with their classic signature Souffle French Toast with Vanilla Ice Cream (THB 365, SGD 14.60), served on a wooden tray with 2 slices of toasts.

There is a nice contrast in textures: crispy on the outside with their golden brown crust, fluffy on the inside with a soft custard-like texture.

The toast is also very fragrant with the egg aroma, lightly sweetened by the icing sugar on top.

On top of that, there is also a contrast in temperature between the cold vanilla ice cream and the warm French toast freshly prepared and served.

MIL Toast House

Apart from their souffle French toast, a selection of Brioche & soft buns are available in different flavours, served in bamboo baskets commonly seen in dim sum places.

These flavours include Ham & Corn (THB 295, SGD ), Sweet Pumpkin (THB 230, SGD 10.20), Chocolate Nutella (THB 310, SGD 12.40), Marron (THB 320, SGD 12.80).

Drinks start from THB 120 (SGD 4.80) for a bottle, including Korea’s signature Banana Milk (THB 130, SGD 5.20), very similar to the popular Binggrae banana milk.

While prices are considered on the steeper side in Bangkok, it is slightly cheaper than their original store in Seoul, Korea.
