Let’s see. Yishun is famous for 928 Yishun Laksa, Yishun 925 Hainanese Chicken Rice and hawker gems at Yishun Park Food Centre and Chong Pang Food Centre.

However, there are also many up-and-coming cafe and gelato outlets for foodies to take note of. Here are 10 Yishun cafes you can head to:

Craze Kitchen

Affordable Pasta Dishes From $10 Nett

Here you can find mostly Western dishes from Italian pastas, burgers, mussels, Spanish paella rice, to family platters and everything comforting in between.

You can spot a few fusion creations, blending in the flavours of the East to add a local touch, such as Laksa Mussels ($21), Prawn Laksa Pasta ($23), and Sambal Fish Paella ($14).

For pasta, the best-selling Chicken Aglio Olio ($10) is a must-try with its juicy portion of grilled chicken steak.

If you are looking for a creamy-type pasta, order the Cream Carbonara ($10) and try it with a battered fish fillet for a lighter-kind-of-meat.

Homegrown Ice Cream Café with More Than 40 Flavours
The homegrown Holy Cow Creamery nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of Yishun since 2014, enjoys relative popularity and positive reviews.

Holy Cow Creamery offers a rotating selection of more than 40 flavours of ice cream all churned in their kitchen.

Popular flavours include Mao Shan Wang, Earl Grey Lavender, Ondeh Ondeh, Salted Gula Melaka, Sour Plum Sorbet, Blue Hawaii, and Honeycomb, while we also have more unique flavours like Movie Night (popcorn gelato), Muah Chee and Rojak.

A single scoop goes for $3.50 and a double for $6.50, and is considered relatively affordable. Premium flavours are at $1 extra, while they also have an Epicure range at $2 more.

I was most enticed by their Blue Hawaiian – a bluepea flower gelato with chocolate chips and hint of sea salt. The texture was pleasantly creamy and smooth, and the tinge of salt somehow worked well with all the sweetness going on.
