From a home micro-roastery to a brick-and-mortar café, Zerah Coffee Roasters has quietly joined the Lavender neighbourhood. (Also read: 10 LAVENDER Cafes for Brunch & Coffee)

Even if you reach North Bridge Road, Zerah Coffee Roasters is still slightly off the radar as they are located on the 2nd storey.

You can find them above Holy Cow Creamery.

“Zerah” is inspired by the Hebrew word for “seed”.

The team hopes to bring out the best of every coffee’s origin, using roasting methods to highlight the inherent sweetness that is smooth and well balanced.

Their interior is simple and minimalist, decked in muted tones of white and brown, with track lights running across the ceilings to illuminate the space.

15 people can be seated at any one time, with a concise menu of Espresso ($4), Black ($4.50), White ($5.50) and Filter ($7 – $8).

All their coffee beans are roasted in-house with a micro roastery on site.

Customers who enjoyed their cup of coffee can buy the beans directly off the shelves with small batches on display.

Using a single origin of Ethiopia for their Espresso ($4) and Black ($4.50), the cup has notes of lemon, grapefruit and elderflower.

My cup of White ($5.50) is a single origin of Colombia, smooth, medium bodied, robust with a distinctive sweetness of brown sugar, and a citrusy body of plum and cherry.

Serious coffee drinkers can check out their Filter with single origins from Ethiopia ($7), El Salvador ($7.50) and Colombia ($8).

With just coffee on their menu and no desserts or pastries at the moment, Zerah Coffee Roasters is an ideal place for a quick caffeine fix or to spend some peaceful time over a cup of quality specialty coffee.

One thing to note, they do not have takeaway cups and hopefully, they will be able to offer coffee for takeaway as there were several requests at the time of visit.
