Wheelock Place Cafe By Actor Benz Hui’s Daughter
Café Bakeaholic is opened by Charmaine Hui who is daughter of veteran Hong Kong Actor Benz Hui 许绍雄, and has a second outlet at Wheelock Place.
This is a bigger space at a more upmarket venue, with a huge backdrop of rear projection video wall.
Food wise, there are the more typical-sounding Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($14.90), Brioche Eggie ($13.90) – creamy truffle egg mayo with buttery brioche, Japanese Carbonara ($17.90) served with onsen egg and shitake mushrooms, and Veg Pomodoro ($14.90).

Korean-style Croffles which are a combination of croissant and waffles are a new addition to the menu, with savoury and sweet options.

noon Cafe
152 Rangoon Rd, Singapore 218429
Opening Hours: 12pm – 11pm (Mon, Wed – Fri), 11am – 11pm (Sat – Sun)
Minimalist Gelato & Waffles Cafe At Farrer Park
Another café opens at Rangoon Road – already lined with familiar names including Old Hen Coffee Bar, Daizu Cafe, Brunches Cafe, and Gather The Misfits.
Available ice cream choices when I visited included Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Matcha Green Tea, Thai Milk Tea, Earl Grey Lavender, Hazelnut Rocher, Speculoos, and Yuzu Sorbet.
Interestingly, the waffles were presented in two squares rather than a whole block, which the server mentioned would make it easier for sharing. It is true.
Crispy with light buttery-ness, this was a not-bad waffles (one of the better ones I had of late actually), and I found myself not needing any of the additional syrup at all because the overall combination was already sweet enough. noon Café (Rangoon Road)
The Hainan Story Bakery
Hillion Mall #01-43, 17 Petir Road, Singapore 678278
Operating Hours: 8:30am – 9pm, or till sold out (Mon – Sun)
Bt Panjang Bakery With Curry Chicken Polo Bun, Fluffy Swiss Rolls
The Hainan Story 海南寶 has launched a sister brand – a standalone bakery also located at Hillion Mall. You can buy local style kopi from the other side.
This is a modern bakery shop with an extensive range of items, from classic buns, Swiss rolls, kueh, sourdough bombs, sourdough pizza, curry chicken pie, to cookies.
Interesting to know: the breads are made daily and baked fresh in individual steel trays – in rectangular or circular ones, as a nod to tradition.
Recommend is the Bak Kwa Pork Floss Bun ($3.80), filled with barbecued sweet meat, whole slice of bak kwa and sprinkled with pork floss on the top.
You may remember the Swiss Rolls previously only available at The Hainan Story at Hotel Boss. You can find them here as well, except that they come in mini bite-sized versions with six different flavours – Nanyang Yam Orh Nee Roll, Premium Belgian Chocolate, and new flavours of Teh Susu, Red Velvet, Ondeh Ondeh, and Oreo. The Hainan Story Bakery (Hillion Mall)
Panquecas
92 Club Street, Singapore 069460
Opening Hours: 3pm – 12am (Wed – Fri), 12pm – 12am (Sat), 12pm – 10pm (Sun), Closed Mon
Crepe Pancakes Specialty Cafe With Kopi O And Apam Balik Crepes
“Panquecas” in Portugese means “pancakes”, and the Muslim-owned cafe offers this signature item in both sweet and savoury options.
Only 2 savoury pancakes are available, namely the Picanha Roll ($18) named after their sister steakhouse next door, and the Panqueca Roll ($18) topped with chicken sausage.
If you have a sweet tooth, then good for you as Panquecas offers a total 7 different sweet pancakes topped with various toppings.
Using wheat flour for both their sweet and savoury pancakes, the batter is mixed with the respective flavours to bring out a more wholesome flavour.
Their Classic ($11) is the most affordable on the menu, with toppings such as Creme Pattisiere, Beurre Noisette, Roasted Buckwheat Seeds, Fresh Berries, Compote, Chocolate Dipping Sauce and a single scoop of Ice Cream. Panquecas (Club Street)
HENRI
48 Pekin Street, #01-01, Singapore 048778
Opening Hours: 8am – 10pm (Mon – Sun)
French Cafe & Bistro That Is Pets-Friendly
Not to be confused with Henri Charpentier, HENRI is opened by the folks behind Bread & Hearth and wholesale bread supplier Sourdough Factory.
A wide assortment of Viennoiseries and pastries are available on the shelves; From classic Croissant ($3.50) to Raisin Roll ($3.80), Pecan Cranberries ($3.50), Chocolat Twist ($4.20), Almond Croissant ($4.50), Butterhorn ($3.70), Cheese Danish ($3.90), Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.50) and Quiche ($7.50).
My favourite was the Cheese Danish ($3.90), with in-house cream cheese that is light and slightly sweetened with a smooth texture stuffed within the crispy, flaky and buttery Danish crust.
The remaining 20-seaters space indoors is opened for Lunch (12pm to 3pm) and Dinner (6pm to 10pm) services. Henri (Pekin Street)
Aether House
35 Robinson Road, #01-05, Singapore 068898

Pastel-Style French Cafe With Soufflé And Desserts

Dilly Deli
53B Strathmore Avenue, #01-01, Singapore 144053
Opening Hours: 8am – 9pm, Last Order 8:30pm (Mon – Sun)
Queenstown Cafe Has Cronuts, Croissant Sandwiches And Toasties
The name is a play on the familiar colloquial term “Dilly Dally”, that often has a less than positive connotation for taking your own sweet time.
The owners hope to provide an alternative experience and space that allows individuals to slow down their pace for their good.
The focus here is on Toasties ($4.80 – $6.80), with options of fillings including brie, ham, dried cranberry; blue cheese crispy bacon, fuji apple; cheddar, spam, button mushroom; and ricotta, tomato and sweet basil.
There were also choices of Chicken and Brie Croissant ($6.80), Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Croissant ($7.80), Caprese Croissant ($6.80), Buffalo Chicken and Brie Cheese Bun ($7.80), Truffle Portobello Bun ($8.80), and Ultimate BLT Bun ($8.80).
I thought that the Chicken and Brie Croissant ($6.80) was pretty-decent, working like a sandwich using crispy croissant. Dilly Deli (Queenstown)
Cowpresso Coffee Roasters Singapore
21 Lor Kilat, #01-07, Singapore 598123
Opening Hours: 10am – 10pm (Mon, Thurs – Sun), Closed Tues, Wed
Minimalist White Cafe With Softserve On Donuts
Located on the stretch of Lor Kilat lined with popular Korean restaurants, brunch cafes and gyms, Cowpresso Coffee Roasters is a homegrown and community-centered coffeehouse with an extensive range of product lines.

There are four different types of Handcrafted Brioche Doughnuts available – Honey Original ($4.90), Creme Au Chocolat ($5.80), Very Berry ($6.20) and Croque Madame ($6.90) – a savoury option.
I decided to go for the Roasted Pistachio Softserve on Toasty Honey Original Donut ($10.90) to experience their two signatures. Note: do not take too long with photos as the softserve melts fast on a warm donut.
For savouries, there are some choices of 72 Hours Angus Beef Ragu Pasta ($22.50), Carbonara ($19), Furikake Mentaiko Fries ($13), and Truffle Fries ($12). Cowpresso Coffee Roasters (Bukit Timah)

Focusing on their unique gelato flavours (Single $5, Double $9) made in-house, 12 different flavours are available at any one time.
Interesting flavours include Thyme, Blood Orange Sorbet, Salted Honey, Goat Cheese and Aphrodite (Blue Cheese Chocolate).

Oaks is a new specialty coffee bar and restaurant by the same team, nestled in a row of shophouses along Upper Thomson Road.
There is quite a spread of creative fusion dishes, including Cheese Toasties ($21), Hokkaido Pork Loin ($25), Barramundi ($24) and Laksa Orzo Pasta ($21).
