Another café opens at Rangoon Road – already lined with familiar names including Old Hen Coffee Bar, Daizu Cafe, Brunches Cafe, and Gather The Misfits.

Located near Farrer Park MRT and right next to Legendary Bak Kut Teh, noon Café can be considered a minimalist café serving primary gelato, waffles, light brunch items, coffee and drinks.

But do note that it is opened from ‘noon’ 12pm onwards only during the weekends, from 5pm on other operational days.

On the door, it stated it opens “till late”, and it would be about 11pm with last order 10:15pm when I enquired.

Available ice cream choices when I visited included Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Matcha Green Tea, Thai Milk Tea, Earl Grey Lavender, Hazelnut Rocher, Speculoos, and Yuzu Sorbet.

A single scoop goes for $5, and a double for $9.

In terms of flavours, they sound a tad ‘basic’ if you compare to the fanciful names many new ice cream cafes have been coming out with. They possibly need to find a flavour that is more distinctly theirs – a “signature” to better differentiate from the competition.

I ordered a Buttermilk Waffles with Double Scoop ($14) which came with a side serving of maple butter syrup.

The texture of the ice cream was rich, smooth and creamy, and not-overly sweet.

I had the dual coloured Earl Grey Lavender, and the distinct floral-ness of the Lavender may have overshadowed the more delicate tea flavours.

The Hazelnut Rocher ice cream swirled with cocoa was a safe choice, though perhaps would have worked better with crunch of some kind for varied textures.

Interestingly, the waffles were presented in two squares rather than a whole block, which the server mentioned would make it easier for sharing. It is true.

Crispy with light buttery-ness, this was a not-bad waffles (one of the better ones I had of late actually), and I found myself not needing any of the additional syrup at all because the overall combination was already sweet enough.

The café also serves up light bites and savouries including Mac & Cheese ($10), Avocado Toast ($13), Waffle & Wings ($14), Sesame Wings ($12), Eggs Benedict with Parma Ham ($16) and Breakfast Dog ($14). Prices are nett, with a couple of vegetarian options.
