This is another one of those ice cream shops that you may just walk past without noticing.

2nd Serving which is located at an inconspicuous side of 41 Holland Drive, is an artisanal gelato and tea shop with an interesting looking door.

(Note: not to be confused with a Filipino cuisine restaurant called Second Serving at Tai Seng Point.)

The door is designed to look like a vending machine, but push open and you would get into an interior of pink and cream.

Gelato goes for $4.50 for a single, and $8 for a double, with the premium flavours costing a dollar more.

Flavours include Pulut Hitam, Passion Fruit, Summer berries, Blueberry Cheese; while the premium ones are Banana Honey Roasted Nuts, Coffee Crunch, Salted Caramel Cheese, Ultimate Coconut, and Rum & Raisin.

Sometimes, they do offer interesting flavours such as Mango Sticky Rice, Kueh Bangkit, Tau Siah Piah – which tasted too much like the real thing, which can be seen as a good or not-so-good thing.

Some customers may miss out flavours located on another section, and I was presented with choices I was more keen in, namely Genmaicha, Ovaltine, and Watermelon Soju. (Perhaps they could place all the alcoholic flavours together for better compartmentalisation?)

If you love your waffles crispy with crunch, then you are in luck – plus the taste of outer layer almost reminded me of love letters.

However, I do know some people may prefer a more doughy or fluffy version.

The Watermelon Soju was refreshing though not as alcoholic as I initially imagined (was more ‘watermelony’ than soju), while the Banana Honey Roasted Nuts was creamy with pleasant crunches in between.

Beverage-wise, they are focused on tea rather than coffee, and you would find a range from Earl Grey, Roasted Genmaicha, Royal Chamomile, Lady Yang (Chinese green tea with lychee and rose petals), Osmanthus Oolong, to Berry Berry.
