Where the witch dwells and goblin lurks, take a step into the world of enchantment and be greeted by magical garden and collection of spell books.

Okay, maybe minus the witch, goblin and magic.

Mosanco Enchanted Cafe The Fairytale Garden (previously called Enchanted) is a charming café beautifully done up with a fantasy theme, found at 88 Rangoon Road. #OOTD alert.

Thanks to the convenience of Farrer Park MRT, Rangoon Road has been bustling with F&B activities.

You will find ‘anchor tenants’ such as Old Hen Coffee Bar (Rangoon Road) and Mrs Pho House.

Enchanted serves a range of hearty brunch menu such as The Enchanted Breakfast ($19.90), Croque Madame ($14.90), Pesto Linguine ($15.90) and Shakshuka ($16.90).

Hmmm… sounds a little average, lacking of more fairy-tale themed food which one would expect.

There are two signature items that stood out from the rest, The Ngoh Hiang Burger ($18.90) and Lu Rou Burger ($17.90).

Maybe because I am a diehard fan of Chinese Ngoh Hiang, where minced pork is seasoned with five spices powder, wrapped with bean curd skin and pan-fried till crisp, the burger just didn’t seemed to work out for me.

It would probably appeal more if the chestnut bits were chunkier, and the bean curd skin exterior fried more crisp.

The “Lor Bak” burger fared better, with its tender fatty meat bursting with savory flavors.

For a fantasy-themed café, these two Asian-inspired dishes seemed to be somewhat of a misfit though.

For drinks, the Sorcerer’s Elixir ($9.90) would probably garner some Instagram worthiness with its presentation, as well as changing color upon mixing two potions together.

However, I would personally go for the Ondeh Ondeh Milk ($5.90) which was creamy rich with a hint of gula melaka.

A little sweet, but an additional shot of espresso ($3) would probably do the trick of balancing that out.

I like how the cafe paid attention to food presentation details.

While I applaud the team in their effort of curating such a beautiful place with the space constraints, it would be better if the food menu has more “personality” which is in line with the overall fantasy theme.

That said, will Enchanted be able to do its magic and outshine the rest of its neighbors, or risk being another themed gimmick?
