[Bangkok] This trip to Bangkok, I decided to dedicate some days to venturing around Thong Lor and Ekkamai area, and realised how many cafes were so distinctly characteristic, and uncovered (at least for me).
There were some “wow” moments, one in particular was (Un)Fashion Bangkok, recommended by Wilbur from AroiMakMak.
It is about a 10 minute walk from Ekkamai BTS (there is a Healh Land and Big C nearby), and can be included in your itinerary if you are café hopping around Thong Lor.
I almost missed the entire area, walking past it as though it was another brick-walled shop, until a brown leather bag caught my attention from the corner of the eye.
Then, I saw “vintage”, “mens collection” and “(un)fashion”. Right place.
(Un)Fashion would appeal to fashionistas with that particular vintage sense of style, or if the very smell of leather gives you a high – with its sale of leather shoes, bags and accessories such as wallets and belts.
Owned by a Thai-Japanese couple, items are primary imported from Japan, USA and European countries such as Italy, with new stock coming in every Wednesday.
The real deal for the foodies is at the back. The café is housed in a cottage-meets-traveller’s caravan. Enter via a small door and you would be greeted with buzzing energy, country music and a space like a trailer home.
And the booth seats. Look at that, with comfy mattress and cushions. If I had all the time in the world, this would be a place I would park myself at with a book and strawberry latte.
The lower deck may be noisy (as the cashier is there), and there is more seating area up the short flight of stairs.
Food items on sale include a variety of waffles, bakes such as Chocolate Cheese Cake (100 baht), Lemon Tart (95 baht), Mixed Berry Tart (95baht) and drinks ranging from Thai Cappuccino (90 baht), Matcha Latte (100 baht) to Banana Choco Latte (100 baht).
Always fun to discover yet another gem in Bangkok. (Un)Fashion can provide a mix of a affordable vintage wear with relaxing environment for a piece of cake.
