[Bangkok] Cafes in Bangkok do Shibuya toasts exceedingly well. Ironically, such toasts are more popular there than in Shibuya itself. After After You, I found another noteworthy version at White Story.
White Story is an Italian restaurant located in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi on Nakorninn Road, serving antipasti, soups & salads, pastas, pizzas, main courses, desserts and fine wines, along with bakery items and Thai fusion food. I visited its branch at EmQuartier.
Its name and white-based interior already sounds Instagram-worthy, as though the setting is plucked out right from a story book. While the blinds were down, I asked the service staff to lift one half-up, and you would be treated with an amazing view if you sat by the window.
The signature Butter Toast with Maple Syrup and Vanilla Ice Cream (175 Baht, SGD$6.90) came primary white, and made an elegant moment when I looked top-down on the white back.
White Story’s was so OMG-fluffy I thought I could-live just savouring those buttery-slabbed cottony pieces, at the same time praying that the calories would go somewhere else.
I wanted to just try-try a few pieces, but ended up finishing the entire plate.
A ‘reverse engineer’ on the iced coffee, espresso is turned into ice cubes, and warm milk and evaporated milk can be added to your preference. Every mouthful was quite different in taste, depending on how much you would pour in.
I left by sucking some ‘leftover’ espresso cubes in the mouth and I am quite sure I would have this again.
