If you have been to Alexandra often enough, you should be familiar with these three buildings – IKEA for furniture, Queensway Shopping Centre for sports attire and Anchorpoint for outlet shops and Japanese restaurants.
Then, I noticed a mega building ‘out of the sudden’ – containing both Alexandra Central Mall and Park Royal Alexandra. (The landscape of Singapore does change quite frequently, maybe too frequently.)
The most obvious conspicuous shop there should be Alibabar Dining Café Bar.
This name is a familiar one for the East Coast and Katong residents, the corner ‘hawker-bar’ coffeeshop which has been attracting many diners for its range of drinks, affordable bites and chill-out atmosphere.
From the east to the west.
The Alibabar Dining Café Bar is an air-conditioned place which has a cooler closed-door environment, though the trade-off is perhaps a less vibrant space.
Its menu contains a higher percentage of Western grubs such as Burgers ($12.70 – $15.90), Bratwurst ($12.20), Roasted Pork Knuckle ($16.80 for half, $29.80 for whole), Duck Confit ($16.40) to some familiar hawker fare such as Chicken Curry ($9.90 for lunch), and Satay Delight ($9 for 10 sticks).
Perhaps the Café Bar may fall into the realm of ‘Jack of all trades, but master of none’ – the food was friendly but forgettable, better highlights of some of their signatures would help. Especially for us who are not familiar enough with its offerings.
With that said, Alibabar Dining Cafe Bar should become a more popular dining venue once words get around.
