My first family holiday was at Penang, when I was 12, fresh out of PSLE, intrigued by this little town very different from Singapore. And there was Gurney Drive, a food street famous for its roadside food stalls serving hawker food. The fried koay tiao, laksa and prawn noodles then were very different from what I was familiar with.
