Our tour guide Javier said “Never leave Madrid without eating the Calamari Sandwich.” He then dropped us at Plaza Mayor, a central square built during the Habsburg period which became one of the must-visits in Madrid. Plaza Mayor has been through public executions, bullfights, soccer games, markets and is now a space surrounded by traditional shops and cafes. Amongst which is Sobrino de Botín, the world’s oldest restaurant according to the Guinness Book of World records.
