KToast – Korean Sandwich Cafe Opens At Clementi, Said To Be “Totally 100% Korean Toast By Korean Chef”

KToast - Korean Sandwich Cafe Opens At Clementi, Said To Be "Totally 100% Korean Toast By Korean Chef"

An “Isaac Toast-ish” Korean Toast café has opened in the heart of Clementi, located at Grantral Mall. This building used to be known as Cityvibe, next to Clementi Mall (just in case you have never heard of “Grantral”).

The shop serves up “authentic Korean Toasts”, with a Korean chef behind the recipes and working in the kitchen. The chef is said to be recruited from Myeongdong and is a certified barista.

The sauces used are also imported from Korea, with ONE secret sauce created by the chef.

You may wonder what exactly is Korean street toast?

These breakfast item is commonly served from street carts and kiosks target at the early morning office workers, to provide them with a convenient, economical and filling meal. Also easy to grab-and-go.

In Singapore, the two most prominent stores are Isaac Toast and Egg Stop (not to be confused with the original Egg Drop 에그드랍).

Items offered by the new KToast include the original Ktoast – which includes ham, egg and cheese ($2.90), Bacon Toast ($3.90), Bulgogi Toast ($4.90), Chicken Toast ($4.90) and Potato Toast ($3.90).

Also available are coffee drinks, ade, juices and smoothies ($2.50 to $4.50).

I was recommended to try the Hot Bulgogi Toast ($4.90). True enough, a Korean chef was working meticulously, pan-frying the ingredients and assembling the toast together. (How do these Korean men get their porcelain glowing skin again?)

In terms of packaging and varieties offered, KToast does remind us of Isaac Toast.

There were some elements that I liked – that it was freshly made and piping hot; that thinly shredded cabbage was added to balance off the ‘heatiness’; and both the bread and egg were fluffy.

The sauces provided an interesting mix of flavours, so you get some honey-sweetness as you are taking bites. The main thing I wished for, would be there could be more “punch” to the spiciness.

As sandwiches are freshly made, customers have to wait about 5 minutes or so (again, depending on the queue), so be slightly patient.
