Korean Cheesy Tteokbokki & Giant Mandu Specialty Restaurant
The Korean “snack house” located on 88 Tanjong Pagar Road (huat huat) specialises in popular Korean comfort food Tteokbokki (rice cake) and Giant Mandu (dumplings).

Plus, prices are considered wallet-friendly. A pot of Tteokbokki (without meat option) meant for 2 to 3 diners starts from only $22.

This Red Holic Tteokbokki pot comes with an assortment of ingredients which includes fishcakes, spring onion, cabbage, rice noodles, boiled egg that are cooked right at the table.

There are three base sauce to choose from – extra sweet, original, extra spicy. For starters, they recommend going for the regular “original” sauce.

In terms of spiciness, the regular Tteokbokki pot felt just right for me, with a balance of sweetness and spiciness. Red Holic (Tanjong Pagar)

Korean Tteokbokki Hotpot Buffet At Clementi Mall
Singapore’s popular All-You-Can-Eat Korean Tteokbokki Restaurant Dookki has opened a NEW outlet at Clementi Mall.

Prices remain unbeatably affordable, at $18.80++ for adults and $10.80++ for children.

The first meal of “Tteokbokki” begins with the Korean rice cakes along with other ingredients, to your desired level of spiciness.

The second meal is the cooking of Kimchi Fried Rice, in which you add other ingredients such as Kimchi, Seaweed, Sweet Corn, Steamed Rice and other items (which change from time to time) to the remaining sauces. Dookki (Clementi Mall)

Hidden Gem In Yishun Serving Both Dry Fish Pot And Hot Pot
“Qi Lai Feng” in which name represents “a bountiful harvest”, specialises in Dry Fish Pots.

Created in Southern China during the 1970s as a quicker way to dine, the modern pot dish typically contains fish cooked dry with spices, peppers and a mixture of ingredients rather than with soup.

Over at Qi Lai Feng, there are offerings of Spicy Fragrant “Mala”, Jade Pepper, Golden Lemon, and Fresh Tomato Fish Pots.

A small Fish Pot meant for 2 to 3 diners starts from $49/$59, while a large pot for 6 to 7 pax is priced at $89/$99, depending on the fish you choose.

Do not finish up all the fish and sauces. Towards the end of the meal, the chef would pour in extra broth to make flavourful pot of soup made of the ‘leftover’ ingredients. Qi Lai Feng (Yishun)

1st Yuzu Specialty Restaurant In Singapore With Yuzu Shabu Shabu
A restaurant serving up an entire menu (almost) full of Yuzu items: Yuzu Shabu Shabu, Chirashi Kaisen Don with Yuzu, Yuzu Gyoza and even Peppery Yuzu Ice Cream.

The owners decided to have a Yuzu-specialty restaurant due to its unique taste, health and beautifying properties.

Recommended is the A5 Hokkaido Snow Wagyu Yuzu Shabu Set ($53/pax). The 100g A5 Hokkaido Snow Wagyu comes with a marbling score above 10 and are farmed in Hokkaido, Japan.

Authentic Sichuan Dishes And Worthy Mala Xiang Guo
Over at Chengdu Restaurant 成都川菜馆, you get to experience a repertoire of dishes that you may not have seen elsewhere in Singapore, from Beggar’s Chicken, Bangbang Duck, “Ants Climbing A Tree” – which is actually minced meat cooked with glass noodles.

Helming the kitchen are Sichuan restaurant chefs Qing Jun and Jing Xiao. Both chefs have notable experience working at famous hotels and restaurants, previously served dignitaries and celebrities.

Chengdu Restaurant’s recommendation of the Beggar’s Chicken ($36.80) features kampung chicken stuffed with fragrant mushrooms, marinated with Sichuan spices, wrapped in lotus leaf and tin foil, covered with clay then baked in a special earthern-ware jar over charcoal fire.

You could imagine that the juices and flavours would all be locked in, and I particularly loved the mushrooms drenched in those flavours. Chengdu Restaurant (Amoy Street)

Initially started out as a “steam-potting” restaurant, Steam Box has incorporated hotpot into its base – so you can enjoy your food in two different ways.

Sapporo-style Miso Ramen Eatery Makes Its Return To Singapore
Ramen eatery Bishamon has returned to Singapore after a 4-years absence.

Bishamon’s fans will remember it for its Sapporo-style miso ramen, categorised by moderately curly yellow noodles and broth cooked with three types of miso – red, white and black.

However, instead of a full shop-front, it will be sharing restaurant space with chicken ramen chain Menya Takeichi at Eat At Seven, Suntec City.

Be ready with your appetite when you visit any of its 13 outlets all over Singapore, with its newest opened at Velocity @ Novena.

Recommended is the Monster Combo Curry ($25.00), large enough for 2 or perhaps even 3 diners. Or 1 very hungry person.

Half of your plate is slathered with THE curry sauce, and you get generous portions of pork katsu, fried fish, pork shabu-shabu, tempura, and cheese.
