Lady M Westgate – She Journeyed To The West
She has arrived. The West is getting more, and more happening. After having a satisfying meal at Mak’s Noodle Westgate, I found myself inside Lady M just steps away.
For friends staying in the West of Singapore (not that anywhere in Singapore is very far anyway), you can have the famed Lady confections, especially the Mille Crêpe cake which is probably still one of the best around.
Its menu is similar to the Orchard Central branch, offering their signature cakes along with savouries such as M’s Big Break ($20), Lady’s Benedict with choice of smoked salmon or turkey ham ($12), salads ($10-$15), Pot Pies ($12-$18), Paninis ($12-$14) and Soups ($8-$10).
Comparing the sweets and the savouries, let us just say they still do what they are famous for best.
One item is exclusive to the Westgate outlet, the Marron Mille Crêpe ($9 per slice) which contains twenty layers of the paper-thin handmade crepes, spread with light “chestnut-kissed” cream within, topped with powdered sugar.
I am a fan of chestnut so I shall be partial here. This is my favourite of the series, other than the Green Tea version.
The cream is smooth and soft that it teases with your lips, and the addition of chestnuts creates this sense that you have having a Mont Blanc and crepe cake at the same time.
Some of the other cakes are not so impressive for its price of $8.50 to $9.50. But I am glad there is a big enough space (or least more spacious than Fullerton’s) for a leisure afternoon coffee.
